Immediately adjacent to Wingello is Pine Forest with walking trails where you will discover many types of flora and fauna.
Just south of the village (about 30 minutes by car) is the Morton National Park and Ettrema Wilderness where you will find Fitzroy Falls and special lookouts such as Badgery Lookout and Longpoint Lookout, with views of the Bungonia and Shoalhaven Gorge. All forms of sports including bushwalking, canoeing, kayaking, climbing, mountain biking, liloing, caving, and walks are enjoyed by many at Morton National Park.
And if you classify wine tasting as “recreational”, you won’t be disappointed with the wide choice of award-winning, cool climate wineries within 40 minutes drive of Wingello.

History
A quiet village nestled in the southern highlands, Wingello was established in 1880’s and is still surrounded by abundant native wildlife and national parks. Kangaroos and wombats are everywhere especially at dawn, dusk and at night, as well as an enormous variety of birds and plants, including rare and endangered species. Regular art, craft and dance groups are also held in and around the village.
